A novel 3D printed hollow microneedle microelectromechanical system for controlled, personalized transdermal drug delivery

The advancement of drug delivery devices is critical for the individualization patient treatment and improvement healthcare. Here, we introduce 3DMNMEMS, a novel device that combines 3D printing, microneedles (MNs) Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS), allowing versatile controllable by user transdermal delivery. Hollow MNs were designed printed using Stereolithography, followed integrating into MEMS. By employing advanced imaging techniques, monitored distribution liquid delivered within skin tissue in real time. In vivo testing revealed insulin 3DMNMEMS achieved improved glycemic control to diabetic animals compared subcutaneous injections. These results demonstrated potential as universal system personalized care.
